Cheonho Hyundai Department Store was developed as part of an urban regeneration project under a redevelopment promotion plan, revitalizing a deteriorated area along a secondary road. The project involved horizontal expansion of the existing building completed in 1997, along with a complete replacement of its facilities. To enhance customer safety, seismic design, structural reinforcement, insulation, evacuation systems, and fire protection performance were comprehensively upgraded. The project aimed to strengthen competitiveness amid the opening of large rival department stores in nearby areas such as Jamsil and Hanam, while repositioning the department store as a destination that tells the story of the Cheonho district through renewed MD planning and regional identity.
